In the spirit of proliferating the physical format, Lost Telegram Press has added two (actually three) new formats just this month.
If you look in the shop you will see John Biscello and Ben Wright‘s vinyl record of poetry and stand-up bass.
As John describes it: “musician, Ben Wright, and I, played together for many years, at many venues, performing a bop and groove fusion of spoken word and stand-up bass (sometimes accompanied by drums, flutes, guitar and other instruments). About twelve years ago, we recorded an album’s worth of material, which never saw the listening light of day. Enter Chrisopher Shoust, and Lost Telegram Press, who wanted to branch out and release the press’s firs vinyl album, and became the catalyst in bringing Morphic Trespass out into the world. The album also features the grittily poetic street photography of my Brooklyn brother, Anthony Distefano.”
The album features 16 tracks, ranging in tone and style from apocalyptic bop to psycho-sexual swing to vision-grooved vaudeville to psychic urban runes.
The album has also been released on CD for those that want something a little more inexpensive.
ZINES
Since Lost Telegram Press has its roots in creating zines back in the 90s. It is currently looking into the idea of proliferating zine culture as another way of archiving and promoting physical media.
For sale right now in the shop is Campesino X: Issue 1. It was created in 2004 and features everything from photography, to short stories, to poetry, to illustration, to book reviews. The 22 page legal size zine is jam packed with culture from around the world. it is sad it died as a project after that issue but we want to keep it alive. If anyone out there reads this and wants to submit their own zines for review, we are looking at distributing zines through this website. Look for the submission policy to have a ‘zine’ section soon.
