Your cover choice for The Last Furies

August 26, 2025
2

After a poll taken over the last couple of weeks, you the readers have helped us and the author, John Biscello decide what should be the next cover of his next novel: The Last Furies. This artwork entitled: “Familio Portreto” was your choice. It is a digital archival print created by Heather Ross. More of her work can be found here.

The chosen artwork captured roughly 41% of votes. In second place was “Staar na die See” with 21%.

To add to the handmade nature of Lost Telegram Press books so far, we also created the font for the title of the book by hand, using a mix of letterpress type, stamps and hand-scrawled letters. All of it was scanned and digitized.

There are several very special elements to this novel that set it apart from others. Something we are trying to strive for is to make each book its own. What I mean by this is that the design is based on the content of the writing. It gives context to the writing and the writing gives context to the design. Both are meant to be harmonious and needed elements of each other.

And just as the medium defines the message, the audio version of The Last Furies is coming along nicely. John has had to make some changes to the text to adapt it to audio. In this way elements that did not translate to audio, now are being modified. And thus this version has a completely new life.

The book will also be released in an electronic version.

Thank you everyone who voted. You are all helping to make John’s book special for you just as much as the rest of us.

Thank you to everyone who voted and took part in this fun process, and thank you to Heather Ross for contributing her stirring artwork to this multi-dimensional novel, which Lost Telegram is carving out in a singular, dynamic, and one-of-a-kind way. We look forward to sharing the completed work, in all its forms, with the world-at-large!
